Ah Summer! Hope yours is starting well.

One of the joys of the particular small town I live in is that we get more good music than any other town of 2000 that I know of. Last night Son Volt, yes you heard me, Son Volt!, played about 500 yards from my house. They were the headliner at the Burning Can Festival, a smaller outdoorsy/music/beer event held here in Lyons every June. So, while I could have just sat on my deck and listened to the show, it was SON VOLT. So I paid the $15 and went down the hill to the show.

Ahh, the healing power of loud rock-n-roll. It was awesome. Plus, I knew about half the people there. Plus plus, I stood right in front of the stage for all 90 minutes of the set. Plus plus plus, it was SON VOLT!

In other summer news, I’m chipping away at a new record. We should have 10-11 songs done by the end of the summer. I’m not even teasing a release date, because that would be tempting fate, but if the goddess willing and the creek don’t rise (and around here that’s actually a thing), I’m hoping to be done in the fall. Maybe a release before the new year, maybe after. We’ll see. It’s all a lesson in lack of control. And budgeting. But it’s going to be awesome for sure.
