It seems like every year about this time I’m writing the same post, which amounts to, “holy crap, where did the time go?” That said, summer was great, and I love fall. So other than the speed of the whole thing, I can’t complain.
Over the course of four days in July and August I got a really great start on a new record. We tracked ten songs, and will be working this fall to finish some bits of extra tracking and vocals. If all goes well, I’ll be releasing a new record sometime Spring or early Summer next year.
It was great to meet some new folks at the string of shows I played this summer, and I’m looking forward to more of that this fall/winter. Check the show pages for the most recent adds. Also, a ton of people have been buying CDs and joining the mailing list- thanks to all of you! I really appreciate it.
And of course, the mailing list is always the bast way to keep in touch- if you haven’t done that, click here and I’ll send you a free download of “Gotta Fool The Devil” off Dirt & Heartache. I’ll be sending a newsletter about once a month, so hopefully that won’t be too much for you! Of course, you can still but the record from me, on iTunes, or Amazon, as well.
If you’re reading this and want to do something free that really helps musicians out, go to the iTunes link and leave me a review or rating (five star please!), or follow me on youtube and spotify. These things are simple and free to you, but actually add up to independent musicians like me- so thanks!
Finally, my office is a wreck, since I’m going to paint it. Which has meant moving everything for the first time since we moved into this house four years ago. So next time I post a vid, hopefully it won’t be with a ‘surgical white’ background. But I’ve been messing with this song I really dig off of Steve Earl‘s new record So You Wanna Be An Outlaw, which is a great record. You should get it. In the meantime, here’s my take on “Fixin to Die,” which is just as dark as it gets. Which is how I like it.
