If you are not a guitarist this will make little sense to you. If you are, you have done this before, are considering doing it, or will immediately ponder the possibilities.
Guitarists, as a whole, just cant stop messing with stuff. I am no exception. I have a fender SuperChamp XD amp- small, 15 watts, great practice or small gig amp. I have a bigger fender that I love, but try not to move unless I really need loud (Fender Hot Rod Deville 2×12- it weighs 53 pounds- see the banner photo at the top of the page). So I dig the SuperChamp, but one can’t help but ponder the possibilities…
So I ordered an Eminence Patriot speaker (the Ragin Cajun) to see what would happen. Swapping speakers is also something I can do myself- so a very low budget project with a high probability of fun (and perhaps significant tone improvement).
It was pretty easy to swap the speakers (I was glad to find that fender does a nice job of labeling their wires).
And then there was a new speaker…so what does that mean? Well, only one way to find out…
I’ve never been a fan of the word ‘sparkly’ in relation to guitar amps, but I see why it’s used. So I’m diggin’ the new speaker.
Also- rehearsing with a new band right now- summer gigs on the way. Stay tuned. Follow me wherever you are!
