I’ve been taking an online songwriting class the past few weeks, which has been pretty cool. It’s has been a chance to learn some vocabulary for talking about the mechanics of songwriting and thinking about how to make all the pieces of a song work together. No radical breakthroughs, nor did I have any lighting strikes of inspiration likely to produce fame and fortune.
But, I was sitting in a local coffee emporium the other day while it was being unusually nasty outside (suckiest April on record), and I was thinking ‘gee, I have an assignment due for this class that I need to get done,’ and between the weather, the double shot coffee drink, and the deadline, this is what came out. It’s been through several iterations as I try to work in some of the ideas that we were exposed to in the class. In this version it’s starting to feel pretty finished.
