Yup, so I submitted some video clips this year to Couch by Couchwest, the up and coming music festival for those who are neither up nor coming.
It’s far and away the coolest anti-festival I can imagine, and though I know some of these folks only in cyberspace, it definitely has that freaky subculture feel, where everyone you are hanging out with digs the same stuff you do.
Here is a quick hit of some of my favorite performances:
Definitely a highlight was The Dead Exes with a song called The Girl From Texas. It rocked. ’nuff said.
The boys from Utah (Two Mule Blues) rocked the opening with a great song, super scenery, and explosives. How can you not like that?
Capturing the spirit of the whole thing is this great cover of Patty Griffin by Josie Little. Cool, grainy B&W with great singing. Plus I was her 1000th follower on twitter. Yay me.
I tweeted (twittered?) with YumaWray about amps, DammitAmy totally misunderstood something I said, and Tincanman and Paleotrees are still making bad nacho puns a week later.
Overall the level of snark, silliness and musical enthusiasm on twitter was pretty awesome. I’m now feeling a void in my twitter stream (is that the lamest 21st century comment EVER?)
So straight from my front porch to you here is my full CXCW2013 set:
