Episode Six of The Story Behind The Song
Have you ever had it with all the advetising? The constant vomit stream of bullshit? Yeah, me too. In the fall of 2020 (incedentally in the middle of an election cycle when the bullshit was at peak bull), I had one of those moments. I find the political bull especially nauseating. The idea that it's all 'messaging' kinda makes me want to puck or riot, dempinding on the day.
So I wa splaying with this little blusey guitar riff in A. Nothing ground breaking, sounded sort of like a John Lee Hooker sort of thing with out actually being exactly tha tthing (yes I can play the riff from ZZ Top's La Grange). Andway, I was enjoying the bluesey crunch of the hting and started messing with some words about how much it's all advertising and it all sucks. And I was off and rolling.
I actually wrote about seven verses for this song. Unltimately I settled on three that covered the big realms of advertising- booze, politics, and sex. You can have whatever political opinion you feel like, but I think we can all agree that when politics became a big media money advertising game it all went to hell.
I put this song out as a single about a year and a half ago, so you can watch the video or stream it on Spotify (or wherever you stream stuff), or even better, pre-order the album on CD or vinyl.
